Kenya Net Pay Calculator (2026)
This calculator computes your exact take-home pay from any gross salary, using the current KRA PAYE bands, SHIF rate of 2.75%, NSSF Tier I and II contributions, and the 1.5% Affordable Housing Levy.
Enter your monthly gross salary and the calculator applies every deduction in the correct sequence, starting with pre-tax statutory deductions to arrive at taxable pay, then running the progressive PAYE bands, deducting personal relief, and showing your net pay.
It covers three tax years (2024, 2025, 2026) and lets you toggle pension contributions, Tier II NSSF, and the housing levy on or off for scenario planning.
How PAYE is calculated
Kenya uses a progressive tax system with five bands: 10% on the first Ksh 24,000 of monthly taxable income, 25% on the next Ksh 8,333, 30% up to Ksh 500,000, 32.5% up to Ksh 800,000, and 35% above that. A personal relief of Ksh 2,400 per month is deducted from the gross tax figure before remittance.
Taxable income is not the same as gross salary. Before applying the bands, the calculator deducts NSSF contributions (Tier I and optionally Tier II), SHIF at 2.75% of gross, the Affordable Housing Levy at 1.5%, and any approved pension contributions up to the Ksh 30,000 monthly cap. The result is your taxable pay, which then flows through the progressive bands.
